The Pittsburgh Penguins, Sidney Crosby, Reebok and Dick’s Sporting Goods launched an ambitious endeavor in mid-December with the announcement of the Little Penguins “Learn to Play Hockey” program. Pavel Datsyuk knows how to hustle. For the second month running the Detroit forward had been named Red Wings “Hardest Working Player”. The award, sponsored and presented by Carhartt, is given to a player for his hard work and individual dedication to commitment necessary to excel on the ice. Starting his fourth straight game for the Blackhawks, Cristobal Huet blocked 31 shots for a 4-0 win over the Florida Panthers on Thursday. It’s Huet’s third shutout of the season, and fourth in 10 career games against the Panthers. TSN.ca has more details.

In his seventh season playing in the NHL, Detroit’s Pavel Datysuk has racked up an outstanding 500 career points. His Wednesday night assist on a Henrik Zetterberg goal not only helped the Red Wings take the San Jose Sharks 4-1, it also tipped Datysuk’s stats over the notable benchmark. Martin Brodeur's return to the crease Thursday night was a triumphant one. Blocking all 24 shots to shut out the Colorado Avalanche, Brodeur helped the Devils rock a definitive win at 4-0. Though Brodeur missed 50 games due to a torn biceps tendon in November, he played with his usual stellar form and is still on track to take two goalie records for career wins and shut outs by the end of this season.
