19 Jun 2009

Montreal, June 19, 2009 - Reebok Hockey would like to congratulate Pavel Datsyuk of the Detroit Red Wings and Roberto Luongo of the Vancouver Canucks for their outstanding performances in 2008-09, which culminated in both going home winners following last night’s NHL Player Awards in Las Vegas, NV.

Datsyuk was awarded his fourth straight Lady Byng Memorial Trophy for sportsmanship and gentlemanly conduct and his second consecutive Frank J. Selke Trophy as the NHL’s top defensive forward. Matching his career-high of 97 points, he became the third player to lead the Red Wings in scoring four years in a row, tying the team record set by Detroit legends Gordie Howe and Steve Yzerman. He was also a runner up for the Hart and Lester B. Pearson NHL MVP awards.

Luongo collected the Scotiabank/NHL Fan Fav Award, the first-ever fan-driven NHL Award for the player voted as the best overall regular-season performer. He finished the season with 33 wins, was second in shutouts with nine, and fifth with a 2.34 goals against average.
