BOSTON (November 18, 2009) – “The Battle of Comm Ave – Boston University vs. Boston College” is scheduled for its world broadcast premiere on Wednesday, November 25 at 6:30 p.m. EST on NESN. This new documentary film examines the 91-year tussle between two of college hockey’s perennial powers.
The film, which began production in January 2009, examines the development of the rivalry from its early days and brings viewers front and center as each school has won an NCAA championship the past two years. From the history to the coaches and recruiting battles, from defining moments to pre-game jitters, hear the stories of what has become America’s premiere college hockey rivalry.
“We’re very excited to have NESN host the broadcast premiere of this film,” said filmmaker Matt Fults. “NESN is the place to watch Hockey East games and the Beanpot, so we’re confident they will offer the right audience for this new and exciting look at Boston University and Boston College’s unique rivalry.”
“With BC and BU poised to stage a historic game from Fenway Park on our network, this is a great year for NESN to celebrate their rivalry,” said Joel Feld, NESN’s executive vice president of programming and executive producer. “New England fans have been watching these two elite teams battle on NESN for decades, and we are proud to partner with Rival Films in capturing this unique rivalry from its origins to the present.” Rival Films, producers of the critically acclaimed “Hockey’s Greatest Era” and “114 Days,” also has made a Director’s Cut DVD of the film, which is now available online and in retail stores. The DVD is over 30 minutes longer than the broadcast version and includes additional bonus features.
Fans can purchase “The Battle of Comm Ave” at Pure Hockey locations in greater Boston, at the BU and BC bookstores, and online at hockeyeastonline.com and rivalfilms.com.
