Florida's Peters Named Rbk Hockey Goalie Of The Week

PRINCETON, N.J. – Justin Peters of the Florida Everblades is the Rbk Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Week for Nov. 26-Dec. 2.

The 6-foot-1 and 213-pound netminder was 3-0-0 with a 1.67 goals-against average and a .959 save percentage as the Everblades swept their series against Alaska and moved into second place in the South Division.

After making 34 saves in a 4-1 win against Alaska on Nov. 28, the Blyth, Ontario native stopped 43 shots in a 3-1 victory on Nov. 30 and turned aside 39 of 42 shots for a 4-3 win on Dec. 1.

The 21 year old has won his last five games to improve to 9-3-0. He leads the ECHL in wins and is fourth with a .936 save percentage and fifth with a 2.05 goals-against average.

Selected in the second round (38th overall) by Carolina in the 2004 National Hockey League Draft and under NHL contract to the Hurricanes, Peters was 10-18-0 with a 3.26 goals-against average and a .886 save percentage in 34 games with Albany of the American Hockey League as a rookie in 2006-07.

Peters played four seasons in the Ontario Hockey League where he was 88-68-19 with eight shutouts, a 2.87 goals-against average and a .910 save percentage in 189 games with Toronto St. Michael’s and Plymouth.

Runners Up: Kevin Lalande, Las Vegas (3-0-1, 1.47 GAA, .941 save pct), Bobby Goepfert, Augusta (2-0-0, 0.97 GAA, .960 save pct) and Nathan Lawson, Utah (2-0-0, 1.00 GAA, .973 save pct.).
