WHY ROLLER HOCKEY?
I grew in Chino Hills and there was no ice hockey inks around. I
started playing outside in the street, and
progressed to organized
roller hockey.
|
WHERE IS YOUR FAVORITE PLACE TO PLAY?
The Rinks in Huntington Beach, I grew up inside that rink.
|
BEST TOURNAMENT MEMORY?
Winning NARCh in 2008. We were the first team in NARCh Finals history
to go undefeated in both the
Pro and Juniors division. Two gold medals
in one day!
|
IS THERE A GOAL/HIT/PLAY/ THAT YOU ARE MOST PROUD OF?
My assist to charlie Middleton for the overtime game winner in the NARCh Pro final.
|
WHAT DOES IT FEEL LIKE TO REPRESENT YOUR COUNTRY?
It has always been my dream to represent my country in roller hockey. I am excited and honored for the opportunity.
|
WHAT IS THE BEST THING ABOUT LIVING IN CALIFORNIA?
Definitely the beach and the great weather we have!
|
HOW DO YOU SEE THE FUTURE OF ROLLER HOCKEY?
I see it getting better every day. When I was younger, roller hockey was about a team; there was very little player recognition. Now roller hockey players have an opportunity to make a name for themselves, enabling them to both play
for better teams, and provide personal opportunities, like playing for Team USA!
|
IS THERE ONE RESTAURANT, ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD, THAT YOU
WOULD DEFINITELY RECOMMEND?
My favorite is Chipotle, but this year when I travel to Italy, I hope to find a new favorite!
|
WHAT DO YOU DO WHEN YOU AREN’T PLAYING/COACHING
ROLLER HOCKEY?
I work at a surf shop in Huntington, but I also like to work out to stay in shape. For a couple of years I attended
Golden West College, and at some point I would like to return back to school to complete my degree in
Business Administration.
|
HOW ARE THE ROLLER FANS? CRAZY? CALM? ANY GOOD STORIES?
I think I would like to wait and answer that one after I finish playing in Italy and Taiwan this year! I am sure I will have some good stories after that trip.
|
EXPLAIN A "DAY IN THE LIFE OF JOSH"
Unfortunately I am usually up by 6:00 a.m. and work at the surf shop until 3:00 p.m. After that, I will hit up Chipotle
and
take my daily two hour nap. When I get up, I like to chill with my friends and play hockey at night. On my days off
I will
hang out at the beach. Nothing beats a Dr. Pepper on the sand in Huntington Beach.
|
WHO IS YOUR HERO?
Honestly, my dad has been a huge part of my life, but I would have to say my mom. My favorite hockey player growing
up was Chris Drury on the ice, and CJ Yoder in roller.
